Michigan Region Competition Updates

Kyle Felts in Car 54 (where are you)2023 was a busy season for the Michigan Region as we consumed all 150 available sanction numbers. Hopefully, and I am making a request, in 2024 the Regional Clubs will use the sanctions earlier in the year. If you are reading this and would like to come out and compete, but don’t know how, feel free to ask your club’s Competition Director, Governor, or myself and we will be happy to get you all the information you need for any event.

This month, it was officially announced that I have been appointed to take the Regional Competition Director position for 2024 as well as continuing as the Points Director. Our previously elected RCD and Six-time National Champion, Rene Cardenes, has been elected to serve as the National VP of Competition. Due to this, and our Region still needing separate representation, our Regional Executive asked me to step in to fill the role. For those who know Rene, I have some big work boots to fill, and for those that don’t, you should come out to some regional events and get to know him. He plans some great events.

Kyle Felts in Car 54 (where are you)This may seem like a down time with not much going on because our cars are in storage, but the truth is this is the planning a preparation time. There will be some interesting changes to competition this year. All clubs have had their number of sanctions increase from 10 to 14. As of this writing, there are 15 clubs in the MI Region, so we will have the ability to utilize 210 national sanction numbers for events. For 2024 and moving forward, the NCCC National Championship will be split between racing and other event types. This will be interesting to see how these changes affect the competition landscape. Any feedback you would like for me to take to the national meetings is appreciated.

Please refer to the NCCC Competition Manual (Rulebook) for information on how to set up and run events. Event information and flyer must be entered into the NCCC Competition Database at least 45 days prior to an event or the sanction will not be approved. Results must be entered in the database and entrant fees paid within 15 days after an event takes place. A Users Guide is located on the Members Only page of the NCCC Website. It is located under the Competition Database dropdown menu. Governors are provided login information for the Members Only page to share with their Club members.

A fee of $0.75 per entrant (per car on rallyes and car shows) is to be paid to the Michigan Region Treasurer, using the entrant fee form, within 15 days after the event takes place. All entrants, including non-NCCC, must be included in your count. The form will automatically calculate fees upon entering the number of entrants if you fill it out using Excel. Make checks payable to "Michigan Region of Corvette Clubs" and submit to the address listed on the form.
